Abstract

Abstract: To investigate whether the APN gene 11391G/A and 11377C/G polymorphism are associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Chinese people. MethodsA total of 258 Dalian subjects in China were selected. 172 had type 2 diabetes and 86 did not have type 2 diabetes. Genotyping of APN was undertaken with the PCRRFLP method. ResultsThe 11377C/G polymorphism was not associated with type 2 diabetes and 11391G/A was related to type 2 diabetes (χ2=7.662, P<0.005). ConclusionThe presence of the11391A allele might lead to compromised beta cell function in type 2 diabetes.
