Abstract: A screen on chromosome 3 in coronary heart disease (CHD) patients and normal controls from Shandong Province was performed to find the genetic loci associated with CHD. MethodsA total of 23 microsatellite markers on chromosome 3 spaced at approximate 10 cM were used in screening of two separated DNA pool samples consisting of 156 CHD cases and 450 normal controls. Statistic analysis was performed by CLUMP software to compare the difference in allele frequency of each locus between the two pooled samples. ResultsSignificant statistic differences were found at D3S1278 and D3S1300 loci between allele frequencies of patients and controls (P<0.001). ConclusionTwo regions on chromosome 3 relate to CHD in Shandong Province and the susceptibility genes surrounding these regions need to be further studied.
