Application of auto-fluorescence excited by endoscopic laser in the diagnosis of gastric cancer and its precancerosis

Abstract: To study the value of laserinduced autofluorescence on the diagnosis of gastric cancer and its precancerosis. MethodsEndoscopic laserinduced fluorescence diagnosis spectra were taken in 198 patients with upper gastrointestinal symptom. Results198 patients were diagnosed by endoscopy and biopsy,including 20 gastric cancer, 22 gastric precancerosis,156 gastrelcoma and chronic superficial gastritis. Characteristic peaksof autofluorescence in cancerous tissue were observed in 16 out of 20 patients with gastric cancer and 19 out of 22patients with gastric precancerosis. The coincidence was 80.0% and 86.4% respectively. While 141 had no such peaks out of 156 patients with gastrelcoma and chronic superficial gastritis. ConclusionLaserinduced autofluorescence spectra have higher sensitivity and specificity in the diagnosis of gastric cancer and its precancerosis,and can be used as an effective means of supporting inspections.
