Interventional therapy for benign strictures after esophagectomy

Abstract: To explore the safety and clinical curative effect of interventional therapy for postoperative benign esophageal strictures. MethodsInterventional therapies were performed on 32 patients with post-operative benign strictures, of them, balloon tympanoplasty was used in 26 cases 59 times(1 to 4 times per case ),and stent implantation in 6 cases with 8 retrievable metallic-covered stents. ResultsIn 26 cases of balloon dilatation, 4 cases were cured in 1 treatment, 13 cases in 2 treatments, 7 cases in 3 treatments and 2 cases in 4 treatments, and the constrictive manifestations were all improved. In 6 cases of stent implantation, stenosis above the stent was found in 4 cases. ConclusionBalloon dilatation combined with stent implantation is a safe and effective therapeutic method for postoperative benign esophageal strictures.
