Color doppler ultrasonography in microsurgeries for deep supratentorial gliomas

Abstract: Objective To explore the effects of color Doppler ultrasonography in microsurgeries for deep supratentorial glioma. MethodsBefore removing the tumor under the microscope, color Doppler ultrasonography was used to locate the right position of tumor epidurally or subdurally. ResultsA comparison between the images of pre and postoperation showed that tumors were right positioned in 36 cases. 16 cases had total resection under microscopy, 12 had subtotal resection, and 8 had partial resection. After the operations, neurological impairment was aggravated in 4 cases, hemiparalysis was aggravated and recovered later in 3 cases, and motor aphasia was aggravated in 1 case in a short term. Conclusion Color doppler ultrasonography can be used to locate the position of tumors and decreases the sideeffects in a largest degree.
