Anticipatory nausea and vomiting and mental health in patients receiving cancer chemotherapy

Abstract: Objective To investigate anticipatory nausea and vomiting (ANV) and mental health of cancer patients. Method87 patients receiving 1 or 2 cycles of chemotherapy were measured by questionnaires. ResultsPatients with ANV had significantly higher scores in anxiety, depression, phobia, psychoticism and somatic symptoms compared with those without ANV. The total and single scores of nausea of patients with ANV were significantly positively correlated with anxiety, depression, phobia, psychoticism and somatic symptoms. Conclusion Patients with ANV have all kinds of psychological problems mainly presented as anxiety, depression, somatic symptoms， phobia and psychoticism.
