Expression of IL10 in gingival lesion in adult periodontitis

Abstract: To investigate the expression of IL10 in gingival tissues of various clinical stages in adult periodontitis. Methods: Immunohistochemistry SABC method was used to semiquantitatively measure the expression of IL10 in 24 adults with periodontits(12 in periodontal abscess group and 12 in treatment group), 10 patients with gingivitis and 6 healthy controls. Results: The quantity of IL10 was lower in abscess group than that in healthy controls, gingivitis and treatment group, respectively (P＜0.05, P＜0.01, P＜0.01), and it was significantly higher in treatment group than that in healthy controls and gingivitis group (P＜0.01, P＜0.01). Conclusion: The expression of IL10 decreases in the activity of periodontitis, but increases after treatment, suggesting IL10 acts as a protective role in the restoration of periodontal tissues.
