Relationship between coping style and psychological

Abstract: To explore the relationship between coping style and psychological status in patients with cancer. Method: Sixty patients with cancer and thirty healthy controls were administered with Trait Coping Style Questionnaire (TCSQ), Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL90), selfrating depression scale(SDS) and selfrating anxiety scale(SAS). Results: The patient had higher scores on negative coping style than the control (P<0.01), higher scores on SCL90, distinctly in somatization, anxiety, depression, and psychodisposition than the control, and higher scores on SAS and SDS than the control(P<0.05??0.01).There were negative correlations between positive coping style and psychological status (P<0.05??0.005), but positive correlations between negative coping style and psychological status(P<0.05??0.005). Conclusion: The cancer patients have many psychologic problems, in which coping styles are the major factors.
