Abstract: To study the alcohol influence on gene mutations of HBV DNA and to offer testimony for clinical diagnosis and treatment of chronic hepatitis B. Methods: Twenty alcoholic patients with chronic hepatitis B and twentyfive nonalcoholic patients were enrolled in this study. Gene chip technique was used to detect gene mutations located in PreC nt1896 and nt1814, basal core promoter (BCP) nt1762 and nt1764, P nt528 and nt552. Results: The ratios of mutation on BCP nt1762 and nt1764 in alcoholic patients were significantly higher than nonalcoholic patients (P＜0.05). The ratios of mutation on Prec nt1896 nt1814 and P nt528 nt552 had no difference between alcoholic and nonalcoholic patients（P＞0.05）. Conclusion: Alcohol can stimulate HBV gene mutations on BCP nt1762 and nt1764. Gene mutations on BCP may enhance the HBV DNA replication and the gene expression, leading to deteriorate the state of the illness.
