Orthodontic technique and rigid internal fixation with titanium microplates
in treatment of maxillo-facial bone stale fractures

Abstract: To explore the effect of rigid internal fixation of titanium microplates allied with the orthodontic technique against maxillo-facial bone stale fractures. MethodsOrthodontic technique and rigid internal fixation with titanium microplate were used in 45 patients suffering from maxillo-facial bone stale fractures. 3D spiral CT was used to define the position and extent of fractures. Rigid internal fixation of titanium microplates was used in fixation of fractures. Orthodontic treatments were proved after surgeries. ResultsAfter a follow-up for 4-18 months, all patients regained bilateral symmetrical faces, normal mouth opening and occlusion recovery. ConclusionRigid internal fixation of titanium micro-plates allied with orthodontic technique is a good choice for maxillofacial bone stale fracture treatment.
