Correlation between arterial stiffness and acute coronary syndrome in aged patients

Abstract: To explore the changes of arterial stiffness and their relative factors in aged patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Methods308 aged patients with ACS, aged 62 to 91 years (average 66.78±9.70 years, 203 males, and 105 females) and 138 aged subjects with normal coronary arteries, aged 61 to 89 (average 64.57±9.37 years, 86 males, and 52 females) were enrolled in this study. Brachial systolic and diastolic blood pressures were determined. ResultsCompared with the control group, the PWV value was significantly increased in the ACS patients（12.16±2.08 vs 10.21±2.36, P＜0.01）, and the systolic blood pressure and pulse pressure were significantly higher in the ACS patients (both P＜0.01). ConclusionArterial stiffness is significantly increased in patients with ACS, and SBP and PP are closely related to arterial stiffness.
