Abstract:

Objective  To evaluate the efficacy of TACE and its significance on cell immune function in the patients with renal carcinoma. Methods  The peripheral lymphocyte subsets levels of CD3+, CD4+, CD8+, CD4+／CD8+ and NK were detected before treatment and 2 and 4 weeks after TACE in 29 male patients with renal carcinoma(range, 60-76 years). Results  CD3+, CD4+, CD4+／CD8+ and NK levels decreased, and CD8+ level increased 2 weeks after TACE(P<0.01) compared with those before treatment. 4 weeks after TACE, CD4+ levelascended(P<0.01), but no obvious differences were observed in CD3+, CD4+／CD8+, CD8+ levels(P>0.05) compared with those before treatment. The lymphocyte subsets levels had significant differences between 2 weeks and 4 weeks(P<0.01). The symptoms of hematuria and flank pain were relieved and gradually disappeared with the tumors′ shrinkage. The mean maximum diameter of the tumors was reduced by 3025±1.1849 cm 30.40days after treatment and was significantly smaller than that before treatment(12.335±2.072 cm, P<0.01).  Conclusion  TACE was safe and effective for renal carcinoma. However, it may inhibit body immune functions in a short period, so immune enhancement should be emphasized at the same time.
