To study the habitual expression of HSP70mRNA in hippocampus of rats by forcedswimming stress, and therefore to explore the effect of different intensity stress on the HSP70mRNA expression. Method: RTPCR was used to observe the changes of HSP70mRNA expression in hippocampus. Result: Repeated forced swimming in warm water resulted in expressive habituation, and an additive forced in 4?℃ water led to higher HSP70mRNA expression. Conclusion: Repeated stress may induce the habituation of the HSP70mRNA expression, and intense stress may reverse the habituation induced by repeated chronic stress.

December 2004. Variables including baseline characteristics, inhospital management and outcomes were recorded and compared between different gender groups. Results: Females were generally older than males (67.7±8.5 vs 60.4±11.6 years, P<0.001) and had a higher prevalence of hypertension(51.40% vs 39.25%, P<0.001)and diabetes mellitus(28.31% vs 14.69%, P<0.001).The Killip class greater than or equal to Ⅲ(11.92% vs 5.22%,P<0.001) and the total cholesterol (TC)>4.68?mmol/L(73.37% vs 57.22%,P<0.001)were more common in females. There was no significant difference on the history of previous angina pectoris, myocardial infarction and family coronary heart disease between males and females (64.53% vs 66.85%,P=0.344;8.91% vs 9.87%,P=0.519;22.98% vs 20.68%,P=0.348, respectively), however, the history of cigarette smoking(69.74% vs 14.71%, P<0.001) and alcohol drinking(78.49% vs 24.77%,P<0.001) was more common in males. Reperfusion therapy within the first 24 hours after symptom onset and β-blockers were underused during hospitalization phase in females compared with males (22.16% vs 28.01%, P=0.010; 64.43% vs 70.14%, P=0.017, respectively). An increased mortality was demonstrated in females during the hospitalization phase of AMI(11.92% vs 6.90%, P<0.001). Conclusions: The inhospital mortality of females is higher than that of males following AMI. Females are older and have more risk factors than males, and reperfusion therapy and βblockers are underused, all of which are important causes of the difference on inhospital mortality between male and female patients with AMI.

To explore the myocardioprotective effect and mechanism of adenosine preconditioning in patients undergoing open heart surgery. Methods:Twentythree patients with simple congenital heart defects were randomly divided into two groups:adenosine preconditioning group (adenosine group,n=12) and control group (n=11). The hearts suspended with cool improved St.Thomas cardioplegia (20?ml·kg-1) which was perfused every thirty minutes after aorticclamping in both groups. Adenosine was administered intravenously to the patients slowly in adenosine group at a dose of 2?mg·kg-1 before beginning of cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB). The serum concentration of creatine kinase(CK), creatine kinase MB isoenzyme (CKMB) and lactic dehydrogenase(LDH) from venous blood were measure at different time points after operation. Myocardial tissues were taken from right atrial appendage at the end of the myocardial ischemia time, and the cytohistomorphological changes were observed. Results: After heartreperfusion, the proportion of spontaneous returned heartbeat was 91.6% in adenosine group, but 54.5% in control group (P<0.05). The levels of serum CK, CKMB and LDH in adenosine group were much less than those in control group at different time points(P<0.05 or P<0.01). The myocardial histomorphological observation showed very metamorphic changes in control group, but slighter changes in adenosine group. Conclusion: Adenosine preconditioning can reduce the release of myocardial enzyme and the ischemic injury of myocardium, which may be one of the mechanisms of adenosine preconditioning.reperfusion, the proportion of spontaneous returned heartbeat was 91.6% in adenosine group, but 54.5% in control group (P<0.05). To evaluate the changes of RAGE(receptor for advanced glycation endproducts) expression and podocytes in renal tissues of diabetic and control rats, and explore the relation between RAGE and podocyte injuries. Methods: Adult male Wistar rats were injected intravenously with streptozotocin (STZ) to induce diabetes. The rats were sacrificed eight weeks after the induction of diabetes. The renal RAGE and desmin expressions were accessed by semiquantitative immunohistochemistry. The average podocyte number of each glumerulus was determined by dividing the total podocytes by the glomerular profile area as determined by point counting. And correlation analysis was used to evaluate the relationship between RAGE expression and podocytes of each glomerulus. Results: Compare with control rats, the expressions of RAGE and desmin were increased remarkably(P<0.01), and the podocytes of each glomerulus was decreased significantly(P<0.01) in diabetic rats. There was a negtive relationship between the RAGE expression and the podocytes of each glomerulus(r=-0.736,P<0.01). Conclusion: RAGE may play an important role in the progression of diabetic nephropathy.
